Little Green Steps

Our new feature offers ideas for simple practices you can start adding to your daily routine to help preserve our environment and save our planet. We'll offer one tip a week...choose what works for you!

Meatless Mondays

My family has tried to continue Meatless Mondays for years. Taking a day off from eating meat is important for the environment because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Animal agriculture is one of the leading causes of climate change and deforestation. According to the Meatless Monday campaign, for every burger skipped, you can save enough energy to charge your phone for 4.5 years and enough water to drink for 3 years.

Interestingly, Monday was chosen because “people are more open to trying healthy behaviors at the start of the week."
