Great news! MGM is making a new movie about Aretha Franklin—RESPECT. Highlighting the singer's life from childhood through the 1960s, the movie's release comes at a time when the world is grappling with racial justice and civil change.
Starring Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin and Forest Whitaker as her father, CL Franklin, RESPECT is scheduled for limited release in US cinemas beginning
25 December, followed by a nation-wide release slated for January 2021.
RESPECT is the first feature film by director Liesl Tommy, a theater veteran who called the project "one of the great joys of my life." Check out the trailer!
