Summertime Sangria

This week's cocktail comes from Summer Contributor Eliza.

While I was in Spain for a semester, I became quite a fan of Sangria and found it very interesting to compare different restaurants' and bars' recipes because they were each unique. This fresh drink reminds me of summertime and is perfect for entertaining a crowd since you can make it ahead of time. It only takes a few minutes to prep and is very easy to customize!

Ingredients

1 bottle of Spanish red wine

1/4 cup triple sec

1/3 cup orange juice

1 orange, seeds removed, peeled and sectioned

1/2 apple chopped

1 lemon sliced into thin rounds

1 tablespoon of sweetener (I use simple syrup)

Mix It Up

Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight. Serve over ice. Try adding fresh berries or other fruits to change it up a bit.
